AMC Entertainment (AMC) is up 6% following the release of the latest Fast and Furious movie. The ninth film in the Fast and Furious franchise rang up an estimated $70 million in domestic ticket sales over the weekend. You have to go back to the ninth installment of the Star Wars series that topped $177 million in opening weekend box office receipts nearly 18 months ago for a stronger domestic debut.
Travel and leisure/ theme park names taking a hit today. The airlines like American (AAL) and Delta (DAL) are down 3%, vacation booking companies Expedia (EXPE) and Bookings.com (BKNG) are down 4% while Six Flags (SIX) is down 5% and Cedar Fair (FUN) ais down 2%. No news specific for the sector decline. Maybe it is the heat.
