The Week In Review

11/17/23

The major averages closed barely higher once again extending the gains for the week and month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.81 points to close at 34,947. The S&P 500 rose 5 points while the Nasdaq Composite inched up 11 points to 14,125.

The major averages rose for a third straight week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.9%. The S&P 500 added 2.2%, while the Nasdaq rose 2.4%. This is the first three-week win streak for the Dow and S&P 500 since July, and the first since June for the Nasdaq.

The rally this week was supported by tame U.S. inflation data that gave hope to investors that the Federal Reserve is done raising rates.

For the month of November, the S&P 500 is up 7.6%, while the Dow has a 5.7% gain. The Nasdaq has leapt 9.9%.
